Time for a little updating

1) I love the new shredder at work.  It’s quiet and with the micro-shredding feature, if you accidentally shred something, I’ll be the first to tell you there is no way that you are EVER getting it back.

2) The garage sales were actually a lot of fun.  Mr. Charming found Careers which I am convinced is the original from 1955. We also found some dog bowls which leads me to #3 on the updates.

3) This past weekend we had a 3-1/2 month old black lab named Simmons. Oh my gosh, he was a cutie. I thought he was actually easier than Robert. Here a some pictures of him:

In other news, Mr. Charming leaves for South Africa on Tuesday till the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.  Hmm…what to do with myself for the month of May.  I’m open for suggestions.

It’s about time!

As some of you might remember (Okay, honestly I doubt people read my blog back then) so this post about the Paper Shredder at work. Yesterday I ordered this which I should be getting today. (Does Tim Allen’s Grunt from Tool Time/Home Improvement) I can’t wait to feel the power!  I made sure it had a little window to see the paper so maybe the guys around here would get a hint.  Then again who I am kidding? I work with 8 guys in the office.  I’m the only gal in the office but I like it that way. Here is a pretty picture of it:

Garage Sales, Farmer’s Markets, and Gardens Oh My!

Posted in Food, Going Green, Mr. Charming, Stores tagged , , , , , at 9:42 am by smilinshell11

This weekend the city we live in is doing a community yard sale.  It might sound like we live in a small city but according to the 2000 Census, there is about 70,000 people.  They posted addresses of people who are having one by zip code, if they are Saturday and/or Sunday, and if they are multiple families in the local paper.  I think it’s a great idea considering one person’s junk is another person’s treasure.  You can find some great things at garage sales and be able to recycle something that might other wise end up in a landfill.  I think you will know where to find Mr. Charming and I Saturday morning.

I was also reading in the paper this morning that they won’t be starting a farmer’s market until May of 2009 which makes me sad.  There is another one close by in the next city that I will have to check out.  I love fresh veggies and fruit and would prefer to support local growers than by from a supermarket like Safeway.  Speaking of Safeway, they no longer carry turkey pastrami in their deli (at least at our Safeway).  It is one of my favorite meats.

I am trying to do my part in “going green”.  I know there is always way I can improve.  My parent’s live on about an acre and my dad is planting me a bunch of things for me: Blueberries, raspberries, onions, corn, lettuce, and carrots and in our backyard we have a plum, pear, and apple which will produce a little fruit.   I can’t wait for summer.

First Puppy-Sitting

This past weekend we had our first house guest for Guide Dogs for the Blind. He was black lab named Robert who was around a year old. He was a great first house guest other than the fact he was up at 6:30 am both mornings on the weekend. I told Mr. Charming it’s just preparing us for kids! He loved to play with his tug toy and lay right at your feet. He was great with his commands also.  Here are couple of pictures:

This coming weekend we will probably have another house guest: A 15 week/4 month old black lab named Simmons. 🙂  He’s a cute little guy.

I *heart* BECU

Posted in Money, Mr. Charming tagged , , , at 6:10 pm by smilinshell11

I have to say that BECU is one of the best banks out there. I have never dealt with a rude person on the phone or in person. They have a great real estate service that Mr. Charming and I went through when we bought our house.  They matched us with a fabulous agent and the cash back commission reward basically covered our first month’s mortgage. They offer great classes on person finance, real estate and mortgage, retirement planning, and trust, wills, and probate. I have actually been to quite a few and they are all free and VERY informative. I do most of my banking on-line and their system is super easy to use.  We also have our VISA cards through them and they offer $1 to 1 point that can be used for gift cards basically any place you would want to go, donating to charity, and airline tickets.  Their APY and APR aren’t bad either.  I have to say, I love being a part of a credit union. 🙂

I’m a Slacker

Posted in Food, Mr. Charming, Restaurants, Travel tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:19 pm by smilinshell11

I promised an update on all the yummy food I ate on my trip to Las Vegas.  Here are FINALLY some pictures.  (Sorry peeps, it’s been a busy week!)

This is what we call a mini-muffin.  Good thing this wasn’t the only thing I had for breakfast.

Ut oh I ate all the In-N-Out Fries 😦  The milkshake was also very yummy.

This is a Peach Martini from Hank’s Steakhouse at the Green Valley Ranch…Best Martini EVER.  Maybe it was because of the Grey Goose Vodka.  I don’t know.  I can’t forget the aug gratin potatoes in the background: Those were super tasty also.

I *heart* Isla at Treasure Island.  The BEST nachos and margaritas.  I was all excited thinking the cheese sauce was some special imported Mexican cheese. (Okay so does Mexico make cheese to import? Probably not).  Thanks Ms. Waitress Lady for raining on my parade and letting me know it’s just Velveeta and spices: Maybe that is why it is so addictive.  Plus they give you three types of salsa with your basket of chips.  Don’t mind Mr. Charming’s arm…

I hope you enjoyed my Blog about food.  Now that I have figured out how to do pictures, hopefully my Blog will get a little bit more exciting. 🙂

Technically Challenged

Posted in Blogroll, Blogs, Computer, Mr. Charming tagged , , , at 9:11 am by smilinshell11

Sometimes I tend to be a little “technically challenged”.  Mr. Charming is a computer guru and why I didn’t ask for his help is a whole other post.  I know I haven’t updated about Las Vegas and that was because I couldn’t get my pictures to upload.  It didn’t help I was totally exhausted Saturday night and didn’t feel like trying to figure out where my html code was wrong or why Flickr wasn’t going to cooperate with me.  Maybe I will try again tonight and see if I have some success.

In other news, WordPress redesigned their Dashboard log in and I was able to figure out how to add a Blogroll.  All I had to do was add the “Links” widget.  Booya Grandma.  Let me know if you want to be my blogger friend.  I don’t have many blogger friends because right now I’m a blogger loner. 😦

I’m baaaaaaaaaack. 🙂 I’ve decided that my blog is boring.  It needs some pictures or something.  Hopefully I can remedy that tonight by posting a blog about Vegas and another one about the yummy food I ate.

In other news, I can’t figure out how to add a Blogroll.  Talk about feeling stupid.  It’s probably some box I did or did not check.  If you want to feel super smart and tell me how to do it, I would think you were pretty cool.  Yes I have already checked the “HELP ME I’M AN IDIOT” section of wordpress. 🙂
