Colds Suck

So much for updating quickly.  I came down with a cold New Years Eve and have been feeling super lazy.  Ask me what I have done over the past couple of days and I wouldn’t be able to tell you because I did nothing!  Okay, that’s not totally true.  Yesterday my mom, sister, and I went up to Seattle to get a massage at Ummelina .   Ahhh is all I have to say.  We went there last year and you can’t beat all that is included for $90.  It starts with a foot massage and tea in their relaxation room.  You are then taken to get an hour massage (so wonderful).   After that. you head to a shower that is to die for.  They use all organic and natural products so you don’t come out feeling like you were covered by an oil slick.  Then you head back to the relaxation room for more tea and a warm towel around your neck and back.  I’m relaxed just thinking about it. 🙂

So backing up a little bit, Mr. Charming had ACL knee replacement surgery the middle of December.  He did a clean tear playing soccer a couple of months ago.   He had his other one done about 7-8 years ago so he knew what was coming.  Since he was going to be at home for a few weeks, we decided to get Netflix. I know, I know, we are like the last people on the block to do so. 🙂 It is super nice to also be able to watch movies and shows through the Xbox 360.

We also had snow: Lots of snow.  So much that I really was starting to hate it after oh day 2.  The worse part is getting out of our driveway (which is on a small hill) onto the hill in front of our road to get down the hill. Yes, lots of hill + snow = me not driving.  Thankfully I had loaded up on food and we had no place we needed to go. We did have a white Christmas which was kind of fun.

For Christmas, we went to my parent’s house that morning and then Mr. Charming’s family came over (his parents, two sisters, brother-in-law, and our nephew). We had a wonderful time spending the day with family.  Note to self for next year though, remember to pull out the ham and defrost it….Oops! 🙂

With that, it’s time for me to take a break.  Next update will be Guide Dog related.  🙂

Lopez Island

Every year my family tries to go on a local get away.  Last year we went to Pt. Townsend and this year we went up to the San Juan Islands and stayed on Lopez Island.  The only other time I had been to the Suan Juans was for running camp at Camp Casey during High School on Whidbey Island. Lopez Island is pretty small, but great for a weekend get away (if you don’t mind lots of waiting in line for the ferries).  There is some beautiful wild life and scenery on the Island.  Here are some pictures:

Beach

Shark Reef

Seals

Waiting for Ferry

Deer

Star Fish

Wood Pecker

Rabbit

The last night we were there for dinner, my sister and her boyfriend (along with some old guy who was a neighbor at the place we were staying) had caught fresh dungeness crab.  Can we say delicious? We also had checked out a local winery and bought a bottle of wine.

Dinner

I’ll leave you with two reasons (in pictures) that I love living in the Northwest. The summers are so beautiful.

Chips

Chips

As you can see I like love chips.  I am going to have to blame my mom and grandma for this one.  I think it is the salt and the crunchy that gets me.  It’s sad when I remember my first big word being perseratives on the side of a chip bag.  If you ever feel like some chips, you are more than welcome to come over. 🙂

Wedding Dresses

Mr. Charming’s littlest sister is getting married in September (he has two younger sisters).  Mr. Charming and I were asked to be apart of the ceremony (as in Mr. Charming a groomsmen and me a bridesmaid).  I helped go wedding dress shopping at David’s Bridal  on my lunch break today with my sister-in-law.  Speaking of which, I need a name for her.  Anyways, wedding dresses are so expensive!  I borrowed mine from my cousin (which I am thankful we are the same size and have the same taste).  I can’t justify a $1,000 or even a $500 on a dress to wear for a couple of hours ONCE.  Just can’t do it.

Maybe I’m cheap. I don’t know, but I do know I can find a lot better ways to spend my money.

A conversation last night over dinner:
My Sister’s Boyfriend who is a High School Math Teacher: “Who determines the sex of a baby? The mom or the dad”?

**Us looking at each other trying hard not to laugh out loud**

My mom: “You must have missed that day of sex education”.
