Posted in Food tagged , at 7:37 am by smilinshell11

This coming Wednesday, June 16th, Jamba Juice is offering their Superfruit Smoothies (16 ounces) for just $1! It looks like there is five different smoothies to chose from.

I would recommend calling ahead of time to make sure your store is participating in this promotion.

Costco and Coke

Posted in Food, Stores tagged , , at 8:19 pm by smilinshell11

Dear Costco:

I’m not a happy member right now.  I came across this article tonight: Costco stops carrying Coke products.  A polish hot dog and a Coke is something I look forward to when I go to your store during the lunch or dinner hour.  I remember it being a big treat when I was a kid to go to Costco and get a Coke and a polish dog.  I really hope those days aren’t through. :/

I hope you are able to work something out.

I love Tillamook products.  Between my fridge and freezer, I have their ice cream, yogurt, cheese (pepper jack & cheddar), and sour cream.  They dont’ use high fructose corn syrup in their yogurt anymore and their cheese is well, delicious.  I will pay more for their yummy cheese and yogurt.  I am hoping one day to make it Tillamook, Oregon and visit them.  If I had a baby, I would get them one of these:  Baby One Piece.

Mmmmm…..Cheese 🙂

Lopez Island

Posted in Family, Food, Travel tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:38 am by smilinshell11

Every year my family tries to go on a local get away.  Last year we went to Pt. Townsend and this year we went up to the San Juan Islands and stayed on Lopez Island.  The only other time I had been to the Suan Juans was for running camp at Camp Casey during High School on Whidbey Island. Lopez Island is pretty small, but great for a weekend get away (if you don’t mind lots of waiting in line for the ferries).  There is some beautiful wild life and scenery on the Island.  Here are some pictures:

The last night we were there for dinner, my sister and her boyfriend (along with some old guy who was a neighbor at the place we were staying) had caught fresh dungeness crab.  Can we say delicious? We also had checked out a local winery and bought a bottle of wine.

I’ll leave you with two reasons (in pictures) that I love living in the Northwest. The summers are so beautiful.

My sister was at Best Buy one night and picked this up for me. I did pay her back, but that reminds me, she still owes me money. Anyways, it’s a lot of fun and is really accurate. My balance sucks.

Wii Fit

Over the 4th of July weekend, Mr. Charming and I decided we would head over to Leavenworth.  We did some hiking and tubed the Icicle River (there is a reason they call it the Icicle River). This is a picture of the ski jump on the hike we went on. I think Mr. Charming was trying to kill me The hill was like this: | instead of \.

The entrance to our Bed and Breakfast. We have been there 3 times and love it.

Bed & Breakfast

The garden my Dad planted for me is finally in season.  We have been enjoying the raspberries and blueberries so far (especially since they are so expensive in the stores).  The corn is almost ready and the carrots and onions are getting bigger.

Berries & Veggies

We also had our annual BBQ and went to a wedding down in Vancouver. It was SO hot the weekend of the wedding and every place we went either had no A/C or it was broken. I don’t remember the last time I sweated that much. My next update in pictures will be about our weekend to Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands with my family.

As you can see I like love chips.  I am going to have to blame my mom and grandma for this one.  I think it is the salt and the crunchy that gets me.  It’s sad when I remember my first big word being perseratives on the side of a chip bag.  If you ever feel like some chips, you are more than welcome to come over. 🙂

Garage Sales, Farmer’s Markets, and Gardens Oh My!

Posted in Food, Going Green, Mr. Charming, Stores tagged , , , , , at 9:42 am by smilinshell11

This weekend the city we live in is doing a community yard sale.  It might sound like we live in a small city but according to the 2000 Census, there is about 70,000 people.  They posted addresses of people who are having one by zip code, if they are Saturday and/or Sunday, and if they are multiple families in the local paper.  I think it’s a great idea considering one person’s junk is another person’s treasure.  You can find some great things at garage sales and be able to recycle something that might other wise end up in a landfill.  I think you will know where to find Mr. Charming and I Saturday morning.

I was also reading in the paper this morning that they won’t be starting a farmer’s market until May of 2009 which makes me sad.  There is another one close by in the next city that I will have to check out.  I love fresh veggies and fruit and would prefer to support local growers than by from a supermarket like Safeway.  Speaking of Safeway, they no longer carry turkey pastrami in their deli (at least at our Safeway).  It is one of my favorite meats.

I am trying to do my part in “going green”.  I know there is always way I can improve.  My parent’s live on about an acre and my dad is planting me a bunch of things for me: Blueberries, raspberries, onions, corn, lettuce, and carrots and in our backyard we have a plum, pear, and apple which will produce a little fruit.   I can’t wait for summer.

I’m a Slacker

I promised an update on all the yummy food I ate on my trip to Las Vegas.  Here are FINALLY some pictures.  (Sorry peeps, it’s been a busy week!)

This is what we call a mini-muffin.  Good thing this wasn’t the only thing I had for breakfast.

Ut oh I ate all the In-N-Out Fries 😦  The milkshake was also very yummy.

This is a Peach Martini from Hank’s Steakhouse at the Green Valley Ranch…Best Martini EVER.  Maybe it was because of the Grey Goose Vodka.  I don’t know.  I can’t forget the aug gratin potatoes in the background: Those were super tasty also.

I *heart* Isla at Treasure Island.  The BEST nachos and margaritas.  I was all excited thinking the cheese sauce was some special imported Mexican cheese. (Okay so does Mexico make cheese to import? Probably not).  Thanks Ms. Waitress Lady for raining on my parade and letting me know it’s just Velveeta and spices: Maybe that is why it is so addictive.  Plus they give you three types of salsa with your basket of chips.  Don’t mind Mr. Charming’s arm…

I hope you enjoyed my Blog about food.  Now that I have figured out how to do pictures, hopefully my Blog will get a little bit more exciting. 🙂

I’m baaaaaaaaaack. 🙂 I’ve decided that my blog is boring.  It needs some pictures or something.  Hopefully I can remedy that tonight by posting a blog about Vegas and another one about the yummy food I ate.

In other news, I can’t figure out how to add a Blogroll.  Talk about feeling stupid.  It’s probably some box I did or did not check.  If you want to feel super smart and tell me how to do it, I would think you were pretty cool.  Yes I have already checked the “HELP ME I’M AN IDIOT” section of wordpress. 🙂

Kitchen Gadgets

Posted in Food, Stores tagged , , at 5:27 pm by smilinshell11

5200514174265p.jpgI will be the first to admit, I have a kitchen gadget obsession.  I love going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and figuring out that one gadget I don’t have that would make everything a lot easier when I cook.  They don’t help me any by sending 20% off and $5 off coupons all the time in the mail.  At home I have four drawers that are full of kitchen gadgets: Yes, I could probably get it down to one or two but then I wouldn’t be able to see them all.  In one I have all my measuring cups and spoons, one my most commonly used gadgets, another one of “occasionally” used gadgets, and another full of serving utensils that is seperate from everyday eating utensils.  Thankfully I’m not as much into kitchen electronics I think because they take up so much room and I don’t like cluttered counter-tops.  Now if I could just learn to cook better.
